Bennie Neal of Butler County has been indicted on several different charges including assault for a stabbing and torture of a dog.

“It’s fairly well cobbled together, that would be a good way to put it,” said attorney Gary Logsdon. Neal’s attorney Gary Logsdon said there’s more to the story of what happened. He said Neal was actually robbed by two men.“Mr. Neal claims that the Embry’s had robbed him of the last $20 he had in his pocket,” said Logsdon.

He also said, Neal was assaulted before any alleged stabbing took place and there is a witness who said that’s what happened. “He had actually observed the Embry’s on attack Mr. Neal, while Mr. Neal was in his driveway. They attacked him with tire tools,” said Neal.

The indictment also includes charges of resisting arrest and alcohol intoxication. Logsdon said this has all spun out and shouldn’t have come to this.

“I had hoped there would be a real investigation, it would be reported back to Mr. Deye and we would dispose of the matter in appropriate fashion by getting the matter dismissed. Get to the bottom of it and get it over with, and if there was some substance to any of the charges against Mr. Neal, work out some sort of reasonable arrangement,” said Logsdon. What will be worked out in this case, remains to be seen. Logsdon said Neal could see up to ten years in jail for these charges. Neal is accused of beating a dog into a tree, then the stabbing of another man supposedly from an argument about the dog.
