Deadly Rear-End Crash Raises Liability Questions

One person is dead after a commercial truck swerved into another lane of traffic and caused a traffic collision.

According to witnesses and authorities, a 2010 International Box Truck was southbound on Interstate 75 between Houston and Turfway roads in Boone County when the truck experienced mechanical issues. The driver suddenly swerved over to the right, crossing directly into the path of an oncoming work truck. The driver of the second vehicle — 50-year-old victim from Union — was declared dead at the scene.

Police do not expect to file charges.

Fatal SMIDSY Crash In Allen County

A moped rider is dead after a vehicle operator turned into his lane, causing the fatal motorcycle wreck.

The crash happened near the intersection of U.S. 231 and Dry Ridge Road in Scottsville. According to police, 26-year-old driver moved from the left lane of U.S. 231 into the right lane, and in so doing, rear-ended a 32-year-old driver, who was riding a moped. The force of the motorcycle wreck threw the driver off the bike, and he was later declared dead at a Nashville hospital.

Big Trouble In Little Bowling Green

A man faces probable civil and criminal liability after he fled the scene of a fatal alcohol-involved car crash.

Witnesses say the wreck occurred near North Gate Shopping Center on Louisville Road. The driver apparently ignored a red light and slammed into another vehicle, who had the green light as she pulled out of the shopping center’s parking lot; she was later pronounced dead at the scene. The driver then left his vehicle, looked inside the victim’s car, and then ran away on foot. He was apprehended a short distance away.

The driver told first responders that he had been drinking.

Distracted Driving Crash Seriously Hurts Two

A distracted driver swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid a stopped car, seriously injuring two people.

According to witnesses and police, the 45-year-old driver of Calvert City, was eastbound on U.S. Highway 68 did not see a car stopped behind another vehicle waiting to turn left onto Fieldmont Drive. To avert a rear-end collision, he pulled onto the westbound side. As a result, he collided into a 56-year-old driver, of Benton. Both drivers were rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, and both their vehicles were almost totally demolished.

The wreck happened in McCracken County.

Fatal Tractor Trailer Accident In Lawrence County

A woman died after a large truck went through a stoplight in Louisa, causing a serious vehicle crash.

A second person was seriously injured in a collision that occurred at the intersection of Highway 3 and U.S. Highway 23 in Louisa. According to witnesses and first responders, a tractor trailer driver, whose name was not relesed, went through a red light while northbound on U.S. 23 and crashed into a Buick Lesabre. The force of the vehicle crash propelled the car into a utility pole. First responders had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the victims out of the car. Two victims were both rushed to nearby hospitals with multiple serious injuries; and one was subsequently pronounced dead.

The tractor trailer driver was cited for disregarding a traffic control device.

Teenager Dead Following Police Chase

One person is dead in a vehicle crash, and several others seriously injured, after police cornered a 16-year-old driving an allegedly stolen car near Tates Creek in Lexington. Police first spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Richmond Road and Mt. Tabor Road as they attempted to detain the driver for an unspecified traffic violation. Rather than pull over, the driver accelerated down Mt. Tabor in the direction of Richmond Road. Serious Injury Crash In McCracken County

Four people were hurt, and another one killed, when a driver ignored a red light, leading to a serious vehicle collision.

The wreck happened near the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 (Future City Road) and Metropolis Lake Road in West Paducah. According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, a 90-year-old Barlow resident, was distracted by the late afternoon sun’s glare and did not stop for a traffic signal. He then turned directly into the path of an oncoming car, containing the 51-year-old Lvictim, and three children. All five people were rushed to a nearby hospital with various injuries; where the victim was later pronounced dead.

Because of the extreme force of the wreck, both vehicles were almost completely destroyed.

Drunk Driver Kills Two, Injures Seven

One witness said “total chaos” ensued when a driver under the influence of alcohol and marijuana caused a serious car crash outside two busy Louisville nightclubs.

According to police and witnesses, a 37-year-old male driver struck a parked car near O’Dolly’s and La Movida, and then zoomed into a parking lot full of people mingling outside a taco truck. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and seven others were rushed to nearby hospitals with serious injuries. Police say that during the investigation, the drivers speech was extremely slurred, he fell asleep several times, and he had a .40 BAC level. He also admitted that he had consumed alcohol and smoked marijuana before driving, according to the arrest affidavit. He now faces various criminal charges.
