Mesothelioma is a form of lung cancer that develops after inhaling asbestos fibers. Even microscopic fibers can lead to mesothelioma. Mesothelioma can be deadly if untreated. Because it often takes tens of years to develop, mesothelioma can be developed unknowingly as a person ages. Of course, the longer a person is exposed to asbestos, the greater their chances of contracting mesothelioma.
